Neighborhood Connections Project Status Feb. 12, 2009 In April, 2008 you voted to spend our $29,000 Neighborhood Connections grant money on the following projects. Project 1: Cotton Hill Park Trail Status: Complete! Cost: $5000 Project 2: Widen and place asphalt path along east side of 116th Ave NE walkway (north of NE 92nd St). Status: Complete! Thank you to Mark Berntsen's Public Works crew, who worked really hard to do a beautiful job on this, and squeezed it into their busy schedule! Cost: $6500 Project 3: Asphalt 116th Ave NE walkway between NE 88th and NE 92nd Streets Status: Complete! Thank you to Public Works! Cost: TBD Project 4: 116th Ave NE and NE 87th St. - Enhance neighborhood entrance by landscaping with drought tolerant, low maintenance plants. Refurbish kiosk. Status: - We are planning to refurbish the kiosk and repaint the guardrail in the spring/summer. - There continue to be too many accidents on this corner to justify spending money on landscaping. The city has been putting a lot of effort into figuring out ways to prevent cars from going off the road here. We'll see how it goes this winter and reassess landscaping plans in the spring. - The homeowner would like to replace his fence, but doesn't feel it makes sense to do so until the accident rate drops. - Thank you to the homeowner, who has been watering our trees, mowing and weedeating the area around the kiosk and under the trees, and washing the plexiglass kiosk door! Cost: TBD Project 5: 112th Ave NE and NE 87th St. - Enhance neighborhood entrance by landscaping with drought tolerant, low maintenance plants. Refurbish kiosk. Status: Partially complete: Area has been weeded, 19 yards of compost rototilled in (thank you to all the volunteers!), and wood chips applied. We'll plant in the spring. We'll refurbish the kiosk in the spring or summer. Cost: TBD
